Durham
City Under 18s. December 2009.
The Under 18s have had a good start to the season with approx
30 players in the squad, they have lost a number of games against
good opposition, for instance Ampleforth College and Dinnington
from South Yorks, however they have won all five of the league
games so far putting them top of the North East and Cumbria Sunday
B league.
This is pleasing as the majority of the team are Under 17s, a
decision was made early that we would be better only running one
team at Colts level rather than stretch ourselves by running an
Under 17s and Under 18s. There have been some very good performances
and a gradual improvement of individuals and the team.
A number of our squad have also started to play Senior Rugby at
the Club, recently Michael Silcock, George Sayer,Paul Rodham,
Josh Brown,David Galloway, Connor Lavery and Thomas Howard have
played for the second and third teams in a number of games.
Thomas Baty
and Alex Sinkinson have both been regulars in the First team along
with Gareth Malcolm from last years Under 18s. Also from last
years team Alex Docx, Casy Shogren,Seb Edwards and Jonathan Stokoe
have all played second and third team rugby for the club.
In addition to a number of County U18 squad members this season
Michael Sicock, Patrick Jones, Connor Lavery,Josh Brown and George
Studd, George also played for the Falcons Senior academy and is
in line for training with the North of England Under 18s, we also
have a number of our young men involved with the Durham County
Under 20s side Thomas Baty, Alex Docx, Seb Edwards and Gareth
Malcolm. Gareth has also been selected for the North of England
College side.
We hope to continue this development in the New Year which includes
a tour to Holland to enter the Hilversum tournament in April.
Anyone intersted in sponsoring or supporting the future of the
club please contact Paul Baty.
